United States - December 17, 2024 In a milestone achievement, SpaceX completed its final mission supporting the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) for 2024 with the successful launch of the NROL-149 mission on December 17. The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at 5:19 a.m. PST, carrying an undisclosed number of Starshield satellites—believed to be the government variant of the Starlink constellation. Notably, the Falcon 9 first stage booster, B1063, marked its 22nd flight with this mission. After launch, it made a flawless return to the droneship Of Course I Still Love You in the Pacific Ocean, completing the 114th booster landing on the platform. This success brings the total number of booster landings to 384. The mission underscored SpaceX’s ongoing commitment to advancing national security through space, capping off a year of crucial support for the NRO.
