Zimbabwe - August 30, 2024 [Note: no sound] These videos were taken from Matabeleland South Province, Gwanda, Zimbabwe showing the effects of climate change to the local Community. The dam dried up in June 2024. A lot of work needs to be done in order to resuscitate the holding capacity of this dam. Due to lack of water people and their livestock have to travel long hours to the next water source, which also is on the verge of running dry. Animals are dying being trapped by mud trying to reach to the water. Due to the prolonged period of abnormally low rainfall a lot of these water sources no longer hold up enough water to sustain the communities up to the rain season. Crops failed and water sources dry up mid-year. The other video will show a water source that was dug in the middle of the dam, its a sad time.
