A mystery drone hovered over Texas, sparking fears among officials and residents.

Footage shows unmanned aerial vehicle activity, with bright flashing lights, in the skies over Allen on December 16. It slowly fades away, seemingly drifting further.

The rare event has added to the growing unease across the United States as unexplained flying objects continue to puzzle locals.

Worried resident Steve Shackelford captured the video around 4:50 am.

He said: 'Is this thing a police drone or something in Allen?'

The sighting comes amid nearly a month of drone reports sweeping New Jersey and other states, including New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.

U.S. authorities have yet to provide concrete answers, though Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas confirmed on Sunday that the sightings include drones and manned aircraft often mistaken for them.

Officials stress there is no evidence of foreign involvement or a threat to public safety, yet concerns remain.

Lawmakers have criticised the lack of transparency, especially as drones have appeared near sensitive locations, such as military facilities and airports.

Some have accused the government of covering up military surveillance or alien interference.
