Homeless American ex-pat 'left by Filipina girlfriend' rescued by locals in the Philippines
An American ex-pat who has become homeless in the Philippines was rescued by Good Samaritans.
Raju DeWitt, 58, from Michigan, moved to the tropical country with a Filipina partner, but their break up reportedly caused him to spiral out-of-control.
He had been roaming around Bohol province without money and property before concerned locals helped send him to a rehabilitation centre in Manila.
Footage shows Raju lying on the floor when Carrie Laine Abad and her friends found him. He slept while the local did a vlog about his life.
Carrie Laine said in the video: 'He used to have motorcycles, a big house, and many properties but this is him now. This is because a Filipina took all his money.'
The good Samaritans were waiting for police to assist them but Raju woke up before authorities arrived.
He shouted at a woman on the sidewalk. He said: 'Shut the fuck up.'
Raju then walked to the other side of the road where he continued shouting angrily.
Carrie Laine and her companion distanced. She said: 'He has tendencies to hurt people. I have a fractured leg, I will not be able to run.'
Raju was eventually taken by police and local government officers who helped him take a flight to Manila on December 1.
He will stay in the capital city, receiving medical treatment.
