Recently, at the 2024 China Masters Athletics Championships and Qingdao Athletics Open, 71-year-old Qingdao native Jin Hui achieved an astonishing time of 13.97 seconds in the 100-meter race, winning first place nationally in the 70+ age group. His performance also broke the previous national record, making him the new record holder for the category.

Jin Hui, a former steel plant maintenance worker, moved to Qingdao after retirement and joined a local senior soccer team. Known for his incredible speed, his teammates nicknamed him "Little Cannonball."

In his youth, Jin was passionate about sports such as martial arts, wrestling, and boxing. After retiring, he rediscovered his love for athletics through soccer and sprinting.

Jin expressed his hope to represent China at next year’s Asian Masters Athletics Championships, where he aims to compete against athletes of the same age from other countries and showcase the speed of Chinese seniors.
