Restaurant owner rescues diner choking on food while young man gazes at his phone
This is the moment a restaurant owner rushes over to rescue a diner choking on food while a young customer sitting across from him does nothing, merely gazing at his phone.
Footage shows a man who accidentally lodged something in his throat while eating in Fuzhou, Fujian, China, on October 8. He then put his finger in his mouth and tried to remove it but was unsuccessful.
The man's face flushed, and he covered his throat with his hands, unable to speak or call out for help.
Seeing this, Mr Wang quickly ran out of the kitchen and hugged the man from behind to administer emergency treatment.
After 20 seconds, the man spat out the steak bone that had been stuck in his throat, and his face returned to normal.
Mr Wang explained that he had learned the Heimlich first-aid method on the internet.
The Heimlich manoeuvre, also known as abdominal thrusts, is a first-aid technique used to help someone choking due to a foreign object obstructing their airway. It is designed to expel the object by creating pressure in the abdomen.
