This is the dramatic moment flash floods swamped homes injuring at least 10 residents in Indonesia on Wednesday.

Heavy rain sparked a deluge of muddy torrents that carried debris from hillsides into the village in South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra.

Officials said that thousands of residents in the Batang Angkola district and Tano Tombangan district were forced to flee.

Abdul Muhari, Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, said: 'Based on data received by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) on Wednesday at 22.40, it was recorded that 495 households were affected by this incident and 10 residents were injured.

'The latest situation is that the electricity network in the affected area is broken and the water is gradually starting to recede

'Considering the weather conditions in the affected areas which continue to receive moderate to high-intensity rain.'
