Philippines - December 19, 2024 The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) sprang into action on December 19, 2024, as a fire broke out aboard the dredger vessel MV HYNZ 31 in the waters of Manila Bay. Responding swiftly, the PCG deployed two patrol vessels, BRP Sindangan (MRRV-4407) and BRP Suluan (MRRV-4406), along with personnel from Coast Guard Station (CGS) Manila, to contain the blaze and provide assistance. An initial investigation into the incident is now underway. The coordinated effort underscores the PCG’s critical role in maritime safety as crews worked tirelessly to manage the emergency and protect the surrounding waters.
