US, Los Angeles: Angeles National Forest Car Fire Spreads to Hillside With Sound On Tape
Los Angeles, United States - December 19, 2024 12/19/2024 12:18 am (GMT-0800) ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. – California Highway Patrol officers and the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a vehicle crash around 12:18 a.m. Thursday, involving a fire that spread to a hillside in the Angeles National Forest at mile marker 32.16. The driver of the crashed, burning vehicle fled the scene in another vehicle, which drove away as flames spread to the hillside. Two campers in the area heard the crash and told KNN on-camera that they saw the driver get picked up by someone at the scene. The campers said that firefighters were flashing their lights and yelling "fire" to alert anyone who may have been in the area. According to the campers, the fire spread into the hillside quickly. The LACoFD reported a half acre was burning. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time, and the fire was quickly contained.
