Sana'a, Yemen - December 19, 2024 At least nine people were killed and three injured in Israeli attacks on Yemen early on Thursday, Houthi al-Masirah TV reported. Israeli airstrikes targeted Yemen's capital Sanaa and Red Sea ports in the western province of Hodeidah, the TV channel reported. According to the report, two major power stations in the north and south of Sanaa were hit, alongside Hodeidah's main port and oil facility. Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari told a news briefing that the strikes hit military sites on Yemen's western coast and inland. "The sites included ports and energy infrastructure in Sanaa, which the Houthis have been using in ways that effectively contributed to their military action," Hagari said. The Israeli military said dozens of aircraft from the Israeli Air Force participated in the strikes on Yemen overnight, and it had prepared for the strikes for weeks. Following the strikes, Houthi senior official Mohammed al-Houthi condemned the Israeli attacks on Yemen's civilian infrastructure, stating that they would not stop Houthis from continuing their support for Gaza. He further announced that the Houthis would continue to launch missiles and drones at Israel, while also targeting Israeli, U.S., and U.K. merchant ships and warships in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Arabian Sea.
