German regional public broadcaster WDR reported that the suspect, arrested after a deadly car attack on a German Christmas market in Magdeburg on Friday, was a 50-year-old doctor who arrived from Saudi Arabia in 2006, and was granted asylum in Germany.

According to a report by WDR's investigative team, the suspect, Taleb A., was not previously known to police as an extremist. A close examination of his social media posts revealed that he was an anti-Muslim activist who frequently claimed Germany was under the threat of Islamization, and retweeted messages from the anti-immigrant right-wing party, Alternative for Germany (AfD).

Welt newspaper shared some of his tweets, which included claims such as "Germany chases female Saudi asylum seekers" and "Germany wants to Islamize Europe."

Video contains screenshots of his suspended Twitter (X) account, showing controversial statements, anti-Islam comments, and tweets that mocked former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and praised anti-immigrant, right-wing AfD Party's co-chair Alice Weidel.

We need AfD to protect the police from them."
