This is the amusing moment a beaver chewed through a chunky piece of maple wood in Washington.

Hudson, the adorable beaver, was spotted by a hiker nibbling through a vine maple at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park on December 19.

Footage shows the rodent continuously gnawing the branches in half with its sharp teeth and powerful jaw muscles before dragging them toward the river.

Beavers chew on the inner bark of trees, called cambium, which is highly nutritious. They also use this wood to build their dams and lodges.

Their teeth continuously grow, causing them to constantly gnaw on something to keep them from growing too long, which helps prevent problems with eating and performing other activities.
