This is the terrifying moment a heritage dance performance took a fiery turn when a performer's skirt caught on fire in China.

The woman twirled gracefully when her flowing red dress suddenly ignited during a show in Nanchang, Jiangxi, on November 16.

Footage shows her reacting to the heat on her legs as she notices flames spreading across the bottom of her skirt.

She quickly removed the dress and stepped away from the platform, while a crew member on standby rushed in to extinguish the fire with a damp blanket.

Fortunately, the performer reportedly did not sustain any serious injuries.

Local media suggested that strong winds during the event may have intensified the blaze, causing it to spread rapidly.
