US, Los Angeles: Simi Valley Man And His Dog Perish in Unusual Incident Locator Video
Los Angeles, United States - December 20, 2024 12/20/2024 01:53 pm (GMT-0800) SIMI VALLEY, Calif. – A man and his dog died in Simi Valley Friday afternoon following a reported dog fight, authorities said. The man, believed to be in his late 60s, appeared to suffer a medical emergency, possibly a heart attack, after attempting to break up a tussle between his pit bull and another dog, said Simi Valley Police Sgt. Daniel Frates. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. in the 3300 block of Big Springs Avenue, a residential area northeast of Tapo Street. The man's pit bull reportedly attacked another dog while the man was walking it, prompting bystanders to intervene. Initial reports suggested a child had been attacked, but authorities confirmed no children were involved. The pit bull died, likely due to the tight leash during the struggle, Frates said. Firefighters were treating the man for bites when he collapsed from the medical emergency. Despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released pending family notification. Police responded with sirens based on early reports, arriving after the dogs had been separated. Further details were not immediately available.
