Huge 100kg python found near female dorm at university in India
A huge 100kg (220lbs) python was found near a female dorm at a university in India.
The 17ft (2m) Burmese python was discovered by locals near Girls Hostel Number 1 on the Assam University campus in Silchar, Assam, on December 18.
Residents called an animal rescue team to retrieve the animal, prompting wildlife researcher and conservationist Bishal Sonar to lead the rescue efforts alongside rescuer Trikal Chakraborty.
Footage shows the gigantic snake slithering in the canal.
A team of 13 animal handlers from the Barak Valley Wildlife Division helped with the rescue mission.
After the retrieval, the python was safely transported to the Barail Wildlife Sanctuary.
Bishal Sonar said: 'Burmese pythons are known to be prevalent in the region and are often sighted on campus, with their primary prey being goats and other small animals.'
Local media reported that the snake is the largest python ever found in a human-inhabited area in the Barak Valley.
