A building collapsed, leaving six residents trapped in India.

Dramatic footage shows debris from the crushed multi-storey structure, with two excavators working on recovery efforts in Mohali district, Punjab, on Saturday evening, December 21.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the fire department swiftly mobilized to the scene upon receiving reports that individuals feared being trapped beneath the rubble.

Authorities said one person had been rescued and taken to the hospital.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann assured that all necessary resources, including additional rescue teams, were deployed to the location.

Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Pareek also arrived to assess the situation and confirmed that rescue operations were underway.

Local media reported that the building crumbled after a basement was dug nearby. A thorough investigation is ongoing.

In a separate incident, a building under construction crumpled during heavy rain in Bangalore, killing one worker and leaving at least 16 others trapped under the rubble on October 22.

On November 8, residents were rescued when a three-storey building collapsed along Dandu Road in Bangarapet city, Karnataka. Police said the building had been unoccupied for the past two months. However, those living in neighbouring properties were evacuated amid safety concerns.
