This is the dramatic moment passersby rescued a trapped driver from an overturned car.

Motorists spotted the grey sedan plummeting into the open canal, prompting them to immediately help the victim inside the vehicle in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, on December 7.

Footage shows four men holding onto the four-wheeler to prevent it from turning upside down as they assist the pensioner in getting out of the car.

Local media reported that the driver did not sustain any serious injuries from the incident.

Others speculated that the man had accidentally fallen into the open ditch because he did not see the slope.

Darnah Adrieanna, who captured the video, said: 'No one noticed the car falling down because it happened so quietly. When I saw the vehicle in the ditch, I immediately alerted my husband.'
