Monkey statues were decorated with Christmas capes in Thailand.

The huge bronze monuments in Krabi provide were clad in red festive cloaks in celebration of the upcoming Christian celebration on December 20.

Footage shows the sculptures standing upright, styled as Santa Claus, with two traffic lights on their sides.

This left passersby giggling, amused by the Christmas gimmick.

The filmer said: 'I was passing the road when I saw red capes in the air, only to find out it was the decoration for the statues. It was so adorable that my friends and I couldn't stop smiling and laughing.'

The bronze monkey statues in Krabi represent the region's wildlife and culture, with the animals believed to be harbingers of good luck in Buddhism.
