This is the playful moment a cute panda cub play fights with its mother in rough-and-tumble banter.

Footage shows cub Katyusha being playfully bitten and pushed around on the floor next to a tree stump by her mum, Ding Ding, at Moscow Zoo on December 19.

At one point, the cub tries to make a run for it, but Ding Ding catches up and wrestles her back to the ground.

General Director of the Moscow Zoo Svetlana Akulova said: 'Ding Ding and Katyusha's games are always exciting and fun.

'Even Stumpy watches them with interest.'

Katyusha, born in August 2023 to parents Zhui and Ding Ding, is the first giant panda cub born in Russia.

Akulova also announced plans to reunite the panda parents in 2026 for a second mating attempt.

Pandas Zhui and Ding Ding arrived at the Moscow Zoo in 2019 to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and China.

The zoo's staff spent several months training at a Chinese nursery to learn how to care for pandas properly.
