Over-inflated tyre explodes sending mechanic flying through the air
This is the shocking moment an over-inflated tyre exploded, sending a mechanic flying through the air.
Abdul Rashid, the 19-year-old worker, sustained injuries when the wheel he was repairing ruptured and propelled him 6 ft (1.8 m) skywards in Karnataka, India.
CCTV footage shows the victim crashing down to the ground and striking the rear of a school bus during the explosion, with thick dust billowing in the area.
Abdul's colleagues reportedly rushed him to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment where he was recovering from the incident.
Possible causes of a tyre explosion during repair work include overinflation, using damaged or faulty equipment, improper handling of the tyre, or a defective valve or rim that causes pressure to build up excessively.
