San Bernardino, United States - December 23, 2024 A fire that broke out early this morning in a San Bernardino apartment complex left two people injured but was quickly contained, thanks to a swift response from local firefighters. At 5:30 AM on December 23, San Bernardino County Fire was dispatched to a reported fire at a two-story building on East 13th Street. Callers to 911 described flames coming from an apartment and potentially four people trapped inside. Firefighters arrived within minutes to find heavy flames engulfing the first floor and threatening the second story, cutting off the primary escape route for upstairs residents. A second alarm was quickly called, and emergency crews began an immediate attack on the fire. Two victims were found outside the building: one had jumped from the second story and suffered injuries, while the other was injured during a rapid evacuation. Both victims received medical attention at the scene, and one was transported to a local trauma center. The other declined transport. Thanks to the quick actions of first responders, the fire was extinguished within 30 minutes. It damaged three units, but no additional injuries were reported.
