New Delhi, India - December 15, 2024 Customs officials seize 300 grams of gold cleverly hidden inside an electrical adapter by a passenger at the airport in a major smuggling bust. The incident took place at Indira Gandhi International Airport in the New Delhi district of Delhi, northern India on December 15. Visuals show the customs officials using a hammer to break open the adapter, revealing two gold bars hidden inside. According to reports, customs officials intercepted a male passenger arriving from Riyadh with nearly 300 grams of gold concealed inside an electrical adapter. The gold, valued at approximately ₹22.2 lakh, was cleverly hidden within the adapter to evade detection. Suspicion was raised during X-ray scans of the baggage, prompting a more thorough inspection. Customs authorities have reiterated their commitment to detecting and thwarting increasingly sophisticated smuggling methods under the Customs Act, of 1962.
