Rescue teams spring into swift action after bus plunges into gorge leaving several passengers injured
A bus carrying 27 passengers plunged 1500 feet into a gorge, leaving three dead and several injured, prompting rescue teams to swiftly launch operations.
The incident took place in the Bhimtal area of Nainital district in Uttarakhand, northern India, on December 25.
Visuals show rescue officials assisting passengers, who can be seen holding onto a rope as they climb out of the ditch in a line. They were observed helping the passengers to safety, ensuring the complete protection of the public during the rescue from the gorge.
Speaking to Newslions, SDRF Constable Vinit Vaibhav from Uttarakhand stated that the District Control Room in Nainital received information about a roadways bus accident near Bhimtal. In response, SDRF rescue teams from Nainital and Khairna posts were dispatched to the scene. Initial reports indicate that the bus, which was traveling from Bhimtal to Haldwani, had 20 to 25 passengers on board. The bus plunged into a gorge approximately 100 meters deep. SDRF teams, along with local police, residents, and fire services, are currently carrying out a rescue operation at the site.
