Animal mascots marched in a parade while Santa Claus delivered presents to visitors at a zoo in Thailand on Christmas Day.

Staff at the Chiang Mai Zoo in the north of the country held several surprise events for the Christian event on December 25.

Animal mascots participated in a parade, accompanied by music from a marching band from Ban Pong Noi School and Romkaew School.

The mascots also performed a dance show at the flower garden. Visitors who attended on this special occasion received presents from Santa Claus.

Assistant Zoo Director Phichit Chitmin said that Chiang Mai Zoo is one of six zoos under The Zoological Park Organization of Thailand offering free entry for children under 12 and elders from December 30 to January 1.

He said the zoo is holding special activities from December 25 to New Year's Day.

Tourists can interact with several animals, feed them, and watch them in special shows.

From December 28 to January 1, several events will be held, including a wishing tree, dart games, and educational activities, with several food trucks serving visitors.
