Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash in Aktau, Kazakhstan
On December 25, 2024, in Aktau, Kazakhstan, a video captured the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines plane that had been diverted due to fog. The footage shows the plane descending at an abnormal angle before crashing a few kilometers from the Kazakh airport. The impact caused a fire, which was quickly extinguished.
The plane carried 67 people, including 62 passengers and 5 crew members. According to Kazakh authorities, 38 people lost their lives, while 29 survived. Among the crew, two members died, and three survived. Initial investigations suggest possible causes of the crash include a collision with a flock of birds or a technical malfunction.
