This is the amusing moment a hungry elephant collected a snack 'toll' from passing farm trucks.

Samnuan Dook encounters the jumbo every time he passes on a road in Pa La U, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand.

Footage shows the animal stopping in front of the man's vehicle and ambling towards the back of his truck to grab some hay. It then happily ate the food on November 8.

Samnuan said: 'Every time we pass that particular road, we make sure to give them something to eat. It has become a routine.'

Thailand has up to 3,500 elephants in the wild. The population has been increasing in recent years, but it is still a fraction of the estimated 300,000 wild elephants that lived in the country at the beginning of the 20th century.

The main threats to wild elephants in Thailand are habitat loss and fragmentation, poaching, and conflict with humans.
