A ship with approximately 8,000 tonnes of Chilean cherries in 380 containers on Thursday berthed at a container terminal in Tianjin Port in north China.

A total of 1,500 containers of Chilean cherries are expected to arrive at Tianjin Port this winter, an increase of more than three times compared to the previous cherry season.

In the next three weeks, one ship of Chilean cherries will arrive at the port every week.

Tianjin Port Group opened three direct shipping routes to Latin America, reducing the transportation time for goods to 35 days.

Thanks to these routes, the number of Latin American ships and containers traveling to Tianjin has significantly increased, taking products such as blueberries, bananas, cherries, white shrimp, and frozen meat to the city.

In the first 11 months of this year, the total volume of fruit and aquatic products imported from Latin America through Tianjin Port reached 1.802 million tonnes, with a value of 56.9 billion yuan (7.8 billion U.S. dollars).
