This is the amusing moment farmers competed in a tractor racing event in Thailand.

Footage shows the villagers carving water as they zipped across the muddy rice paddy field on their makeshift jet skis in Nakhon Pathom province on December 21.

Local official Suphalak Tiyeaw said the race was held to attract tourists to the province.

He added: 'This year, the event was held on December 21. Normally, the tractor racing event is held at the rice fields in front of the Nakhon Pathom Provincial Hall for only one day in December.

‘The exact date is not fixed because it depends on the venue, the ceremony's president, and the availability of the award presenters. Next year, we plan to organise the event for more than one day to attract more tourists.'
