This is the amusing moment two pet meerkats kept warm in front of an electric fan.

The duo, dressed in knitted Christmas sweaters, warmed themselves up with the heater as temperatures dropped to four degrees Celsius in Sichuan, China, on December 14.

Footage shows the pair standing in front of the appliance while their owner petted them.

The furparent said: 'It was so cold that day, and to make our pets comfortable, we dressed them in the knitted homemade sweaters and turned on the heater fan, which they really enjoyed.'

Meerkats are diurnal animals; they are most active during the day and require basking in the sun to warm up and retain heat for colder nights.

They have dark skin on their stomachs that absorbs light and heat, helping them warm up quickly.

China's winters, lasting from late November to March, are famously harsh and cold, marked by strong winds, dry air, and sporadic frost and snow.
