30/12/2024 - Ferentino, Italy. The excavation site of the ancient Roman Theatre, dating back to the first or second century BC, in Ferentino, in the province of Frosinone, 80 km from Rome. The remains of the Roman Theater of Ferentino date back to the imperial era and follow the natural slope of the hill, reaching 12 meters in height and a diameter of 54 meters and had 3 thousand seats. The structures are partly open to the sky and partly were incorporated into private homes built on the steps. The construction site began in 2021 with the allocation of one and a half million euros by the Italian State, plus an additional share directly from the Municipality of Ferentino. The remains of the theatre were discovered by chance in the 1920s (initially mistaking it for a thermal complex): until then it had been submerged under embankments planted with orchards and vegetable gardens.
