Gaza - December 31, 2024 Families Living in Gaza’s Tents Struggle to Survive Six Palestinians, Including Four Children, Died of Cold in the Past Week The cold and rainy winter weather in Gaza has made life unbearable for displaced families living in makeshift tents. Yahya and Noura Al-Batran lost one of their newborn twin sons, Jumaa, to hypothermia a few days ago. The following day, their other son, Ali, also died due to the freezing temperatures. Jumaa and Ali, just one month old, are among six Palestinians who have died of hypothermia in recent days. The family initially fled to al-Maghazi, designated as a humanitarian zone at the beginning of the war. Later, they were forced to relocate again to a tent camp in Deir al-Balah. However, these shelters offered no protection from the rain or freezing cold. In Gaza, 2.3 million people are struggling to survive amid the devastation caused by Israeli attacks, compounded by shortages of food, water, and medicine. As tents flood with rainwater and families remain exposed to the cold, the humanitarian crisis worsens each day.
