France - December 27, 2024 A nightmare journey for Eurostar passengers on December 27 left travelers trapped in the Channel Tunnel for over three hours due to a technical issue with train 9080. The 6:01 a.m. Eurostar service from London to Paris experienced problems that brought the train to a standstill, leaving around 800 passengers stranded in the tunnel. Frustrated travelers, including X user Lisa Levine, were forced to endure the ordeal without communication from the company. “What a mess. We were trapped for hours and hours in a tunnel. No idea when we were going to get out,” Levine tweeted, expressing frustration over the lack of updates. Eurostar later apologized for the inconvenience, explaining that the train's technical issue caused the delay. However, Levine was unconvinced. “Not good enough. Today was a shit show with no communication. I fully expect a refund,” she responded. After emergency crews were dispatched from Lille, passengers were finally transferred to another train at Calais and continued their journey, arriving in Paris at 2:20 p.m., four hours later than scheduled. Other Eurostar services ran on time, except for a minor delay to the 10:31 a.m. London to Paris train. The company expressed regret for the disruption but maintained that the delay was due to a technical issue with the affected train.
