Kannur, India - January 02, 2025 Kerala (Kannur) ,A 10-year-old student died and 18 other students were injured when a school bus overturned in Valakkai in Kannur district of Kerala on Wednesday. According to the police, the student travelling in the bus fell out of the window and died after being crushed under the bus when it overturned. The bus belonged to Chinmaya School in Kurumathur of the district. The deceased student has been identified as Nedya S Rajesh and she was a student of class five. The condition of one of the injured students is said to be critical. There were 20 students in the bus at the time of the accident. The bus lost control while giving way to another vehicle and overturned on the road. 13 serious students have been taken to the hospital for better treatment. As soon as the news of the accident was received, there was a stir among the school administration and parents. Everyone came to the spot and started relief and rescue. According to the police, sources said that the accident allegedly occurred due to brake failure, but the police said that a detailed investigation is underway. Thirteen injured students were rushed to the Taliparamba Taluk Hospital for treatment by local residents.
