US: Tesla Cybertruck Explosion Shakes Las Vegas, Seven Injured
Las Vegas, United States - December 31, 2024 A shocking explosion rocked Las Vegas Boulevard early New Year’s Day when a rented 2024 Tesla Cybertruck detonated outside the Trump International Hotel valet area. The blast occurred at approximately 8:40 a.m., leaving the truck’s sole occupant dead and injuring seven others. Authorities revealed that the truck, rented in Colorado, contained gasoline canisters, camp fuel, and large firework mortars. Despite the intensity of the explosion, the Cybertruck’s design minimized external damage, sparing the hotel’s glass doors and nearby structures. First responders, including Engine 12 of the Las Vegas Fire Department, arrived within minutes to extinguish the blaze. The Trump Hotel and Fashion Show Mall were evacuated but have since reopened, while investigations continue at the scene. The FBI is probing the incident through its Joint Terrorism Task Force, working to identify the deceased and determine if the explosion was an act of terrorism. Officials stressed that this appears to be an isolated incident with no immediate threat to the public. Tesla’s cooperation has provided investigators with data from charging stations and vehicle cameras, aiding the inquiry. The investigation remains active, and authorities are exploring potential links to similar events, including a recent explosion in New Orleans. As Las Vegas recovers from the aftermath, law enforcement maintains heightened vigilance, deploying over 1,000 officers to ensure public safety in the city.
