This is the moment a fuel cylinder exploded and injured one worker at a recycling depot in Thailand.

Win Hiut Oo, 34, was disassembling the container when the fuel inside ignited at the facility in Samut Prakan province on January 2.

CCTV footage shows him being engulfed in flames as a massive fireball erupted from the cylinder.

Samrong Tai police officers said they received a report at 9:30 am.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene to rescue the injured Burmese worker. He was taken to the Samut Prakan Hospital for burns all over his body.

Santi Kusonsong, a firefighter from the Pu Chao Saming Phrai Municipality, said: 'The worker was using a grinding stone to cut the valve of the fuel cylinder. While cutting, the sparks hit the fuel leaking out, sparking the fireball that injured him.'

Depot worker Wanchai Buaput, 47, said he rushed to the scene when he saw the large flames lighting up the area. He said: 'I found Win with his entire body burned. The fire had destroyed all his clothes except his underwear. I don't know why he was using the grinder to cut the cylinder valve.'

Factory owner Sompong Kakarndee, 44, said he had ordered Win to use a screwdriver to disassemble the cylinder, which they would sell as scrap metal.

A police spokesman said: 'We took photos of the scene as evidence and summoned the shop owner for further questioning.

‘According to the brief inspection, we learned that the shop operates without a license.'

On November 20, an inferno broke out at a recycling factory where metal sheets and glass bottles were being stored in Bangkok.
