Thai-British actor Peter Denman furious as cops tell him missing dog report is 'waste of police time'
A British actor was furious after cops allegedly refused to help him find his missing pet dog in Thailand.
Peter Denman, 28, filed a report at the local police station when his beloved Siberian Husky Canelo, 6, went missing in Phutthamonthon Park in Nakhon Pathom province in the early hours of July 19.
However, the celebrity claimed officers dismissed his complaint and scolded him for seeking police help over a missing dog.
Speaking on December 20, Peter said: 'The police told me, 'Why are you wasting your time over just a dog? If someone's dog goes missing, do the police have to find it for them? Are you crazy? Go out there and put up a sign asking for help. How dare you come here and ask us to find a dog? Human life is different from a dog's life.
'What the policeman said made me feel very guilty. I questioned myself, did I really waste the officers' time like that? When I asked to see the CCTV footage, they insisted that they needed a report. Later, I found out that it was within my right to file a report, because when a dog goes missing, it's like lost property.
'Luckily, I met a fan who happened to be a police officer. He helped me record the daily log and said he would take me to see the camera footage. But all the CCTV cameras on Highway 4 were broken, so I couldn't clearly know which way the dog ran.'
The actor said Canelo was an abandoned dog he had adopted after he was left 'infested with ticks and fleas' in front of his house.
He said: 'Villagers asked me if I could adopt him. I was willing to help because I was already raising dogs. My pets and Canelo got along with each other so I decided to adopt him. I've been raising him for around five years, and he's probably six years old now.'
Peter is now offering a 300,000-baht (7,000 GBP) reward for informants who can help him locate the missing pet pooch.
