A pregnant stray dog that was stuck in a narrow gap between a house and a wall was rescued.

The two-year-old pooch affectionately called Dam by residents was heard crying by neighbours who found her under the 12 inches (30cm) wide space in Ang Thong, Thailand on January 1.

Footage shows the black canine pinched under the tight space between the exterior of a home and a 4ft (1m) hollow block fence.

Her mouth was covered with a muzzle as she was scared and could bite the volunteers before she was extracted.

Resident Noree Chiangin said: 'She might have been scared of the fireworks and looked for a safe spot before falling through the gap.'

The volunteers tied a rope around the body of Dam and carefully pulled her out. She was carried to the street and the men removed her rope before giving her space.

Dam then dashed away with a gentle demeanour after the rescue operation that lasted half an hour.
