Barista creates unique coffee art using unconventional ingredients
A barista created unique coffee art using unconventional ingredients.
The beverage-lover was practising his creative latte art at home, using dark soy sauce as a substitute for coffee and dish soap to mimic milk.
Footage shows him pouring the soy sauce into a white cup in Jiangsu, China, on June 25.
He then whisked the dish soap to create bubbles, mimicking milk foam, before skillfully pouring the foam to design two leaves on the 'beverage.'
Baristas use soy sauce and dish soap to practice latte art because they replicate the appearance of real espresso and steamed milk without wasting actual coffee or milk. This method allows baristas to practice pouring and milk texturing techniques repeatedly at a low cost.
The soy sauce serves as the espresso base, while the soapy water creates foam that looks like steamed milk when frothed, enabling baristas to refine their latte art patterns.
