Experts say China has emerged as a global leader in renewable energy, with the shift towards a greener economy being key to the country's future growth.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): TIM BUCKLEY, Chief of Climate Energy Finance in Australia
"Without being flattering, China has already contributed enormously. China is the world's No. 1 developer of wind farms, solar farms, pumped hydro storage, and electric vehicles. They've built world-leading technology. They've done it at a world-leading scale. And that leadership that I talk about comes from not just the deployment in the domestic context. It also comes in manufacturing and it comes in exports."

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): ZAINAB NAEEM, Head of Ecological Sustainability and Circular Economy at Sustainable Development Policy Institute in Pakistan
"Green is the new goal for China. And this is pretty much manifested in the green development program that they initiated because they believe that humans and nature have to be in harmony with each other. China believes that ecological consideration and environmental protection should be the key, because gradually as people are now focusing more on improving their living standards, they also want to have a good environment around them."

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): HORST LOECHEL, Professor of Economics at Frankfurt School of Finance and Management in Germany
"The innovative power of China is very much important.
And of course, green production and environmentally friendly production and the forces are also very much important.
This transformation to a more green economy could be another growth driver for China's economy."
