Furious passenger confronts staff when airline loses his Green Card
A furious passenger confronted check-in counter staff when they lost his Green Card.
Ryan Aquino was checking in with flag carrier Philippine Airlines at the notorious Ninoy Aquino National Airport in Manila when his document was allegedly misplaced on December 28.
Footage shows Ryan waiting by the desk as frantic staff members began searching for his missing identification card - vital for him to enter and work in the United States.
He said in the video: 'They lost my Green Card. The person who checked me in misplaced my Green Card. This is crazy.'
Three staff members looked under the desks, keyboard, and conveyor belts but without success.
Ryan asked the woman behind the counter: 'Was it not in my passport? Maybe it was between the pages?'
But the staff member answered while still continuing to search: 'Yes it should be but it was not there.'
Ryan said: 'It was 2:45am when I arrived at the airport, ready to head back to the U.S., bracing myself for the chaos of pre-flight procedures and immigration since the lines there are always long.
'My flight was at 6am, and I thought I had given myself plenty of time. Little did I know the morning would be anything but smooth.'
Ryan added the check-in counter agent asked for additional identification to prove he was travelling for legitimate reasons and he gave his Green Card.
He said: 'The agent asked for additional identification and requested my Green Card for verification. Annoyed but cooperative, I handed it over, confident it was just a routine check.
'Minutes passed, turning into an hour. The agent had disappeared to consult with their supervisor.'
When the agent returned, they admitted to Ryan that they had misplaced the ID.
Ryan said: 'Finally, after what felt like an eternity, someone found the card wedged between the treadmills. They handed it back to me with profuse apologies, but the damage was done. My stress levels had skyrocketed, and I had barely enough time left to clear security and board my flight.'
Ryan said he would not let the incident slide and demanded accountability from the airline.
He said: 'Though I eventually boarded my flight, the entire ordeal left me exhausted and frustrated. The lesson? Always double-check your documents and hope the airline staff does the same.'
Ryan said he filed a complaint with Philippine Airlines customer service, but the national carrier has yet to respond.
American luggage app Bounce listed the state-run Ninoy Aquino International Airport as the world's worst airport for business class travellers in 2022. It ranked bottom 38th out of 38 busy airports all over the world.
Last year, it was ranked '4th worst airport in Asia' for business travellers by UK website Business Financing, citing passenger reviews for international airports.
