A huge wild cobra was caught inside a house in Thailand.

Yaharoh Siyong, 68, was watching television in her home in Betong District, Yala, when she noticed the highly venomous snake less than 3.3ft (1 metre) away from her, spreading its hood on December 20.

She immediately ran outside to seek help from her neighbours.

Footage shows officials from the Betong Animal Lover Club, led by Phatcharin Prathummek, attempting to capture the snake hidden behind an appliance stand.

After moving the furniture, they spotted the reptile resting in the corner. They used a stick to secure it before placing it in a sack for release back into its natural habitat.

Authorities confirmed the snake was a king cobra, measuring over 9.8ft (3 metres) and weighing approximately 11lbs (5 kilogrammes).

Cobras are one of the world's deadliest snakes.

Researchers found that 7,000 people are treated for snake bites each year in Thailand. Suchai Suteparuk from the Division of Toxicology at Chulalongkorn University reported that 30 of those die, with cobras being the biggest killer.
