At around 4 p.m. on January 5, a shocking incident occurred at Chongqing Zoo. A man threw an entire bottle of soda at "Lan Xiang," a giant panda leisurely eating bamboo, causing the panda to be startled.

Video footage shows "Lan Xiang," the giant panda, reclining against a rock wall and chewing bamboo when a middle-aged man suddenly hurled a full bottle of soda at it from outside the enclosure. The bottle grazed "Lan Xiang's" head before hitting the ground with a loud "bang." The sudden noise startled the panda, causing it to drop the bamboo it was holding, sit upright in shock, and rub its head with its paws, appearing visibly distressed. Shortly after, zookeepers arrived to remove the soda bottle from the enclosure.

Following the incident, Chongqing Zoo's security personnel immediately stopped the man's behavior, and other visitors strongly condemned his uncivilized actions. Local police arrived shortly thereafter and escorted the man out of the zoo. He was later subjected to administrative penalties by public security authorities for disrupting public order.

Zoo staff reported that "Lan Xiang" was thoroughly examined and observed after the incident and is in good health. The panda's emotions have since stabilized.

"Lan Xiang" is a female giant panda born on July 12, 2002, in Wolong Hetaoping, and the younger sister of another panda named "Liang Liang." As a prominent figure at Chongqing Zoo, "Lan Xiang" enjoys considerable fame and is affectionately nicknamed "Lan Guifei" (Noble Consort Lan). Due to her lack of enthusiasm for physical activity, she is also jokingly referred to as "Lazy Guifei."
