Plane passenger arrested for refusing to wear seatbelt sparking angry scenes on plane
A stubborn passenger caused chaos on a plane when she refused to wear a seatbelt - sparking angry scenes before being arrested.
The mother and her child were onboard the Batik Air flight from Vietnam to Malaysia when she began arguing with an air hostess on January 6.
Shocking footage shows the infuriated member of the cabin crew shouting at the flier, who yelled back at the top of her voice.
Onlooker Egie, who was on the same Boeing 737, said the woman caused the disturbance by ignoring the orders to buckle up when the seatbelt light appeared.
The female flight attendant then tried to make her but she refused.
Egie said that the disruption lasted around an hour - causing delays at the next airport - and passengers in business class even offered to switch seats to resolve the situation.
She said: 'The airport police even gave up trying to convince her to leave. She eventually stood up and left while shouting angry comments.
'The plane had a connection in Kuala Lumpur, which was also delayed because of the incident with the seatbelt.
'I swear, there will always be strange people. Do these mothers want their own private jet next time?'
Local media reported that the woman's child, around five years old, also refused to wear the safety strap as the plane was preparing to take off, forcing the flight to abandon its take-off and return to the gate.
The passenger can be heard yelling at the crew member as they explained the aircraft's rules. Egie noted that the attendant remained polite despite the passenger's distress.
Airport police were called to the scene in an attempt to convince the pair to comply with the airline's protocols. However, they also declined to cooperate.
They were then escorted off the aircraft while other passengers onboard cheered.
Wearing a seatbelt during flight is a critical safety measure, especially during takeoff, landing, and turbulence.
In the event of sudden changes in altitude or unexpected movements, a seatbelt also helps secure passengers in their seats, reducing the risk of injury.
Airlines are required to enforce this policy to ensure the safety of everyone on board.
