This is the shocking moment an ostrich ate a girl's teddy bear charm as she posed for video.

The youngster was attempting to strike a pose when a group of flightless birds behind her tried to snatch the decor bear from her hat in Heilongjiang, China on November 10.

Footage captured by Ms Zheng shows the mischievous feathered creature pecking on the hat while the young girl stands still uncomfortably.

Moments later, an animal successfully snatched the charm from her headwear; however, a zoo staff member eventually took it back.

Ostriches are flightless birds that are native to Africa and are the world's largest and heaviest birds. They are omnivores that eat a variety of foods, including plants, insects, snakes, lizards, and rodents. Ostriches also swallow sand, pebbles, and small stones to help grind up their food in their gizzard.
