This is the dramatic moment a hero schoolgirl performed CPR on an elderly man in Thailand.

Benjawan Kanpai, a pupil from the Choeng Thale Wittayakom School, was walking back to classes after lunch when she noticed the accident on a street in Phuket on January 6 afternoon.

The medics said they were trying to revive a motorcycle driver who had collapsed from an epileptic episode. However, they needed help to administer CPR while they set up an automated external defibrillator to jumpstart the patient's pulse.

Footage shows the young lady pumping the unconscious man's chest with gloved hands as the rescuers prepared the medical equipment.

With her help, the team was able to resuscitate the pensioner who was said to have suffered a cardiac arrest. He was rushed to the Thalang Hospital for further treatment.

Benjawan said she had learned CPR in an event organised by the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation two years ago.

When she saw the paramedics struggling, she rushed over to offer her assistance.

She said: 'My friends and classmates learned how to do the life-saving procedure. I'm happy that I was able to apply this knowledge in real life. I even helped save someone's life.

'When I saw what was happening, I went over and asked if they needed help. I said I could do CPR so I continued the chest pumping when they prepared equipment.'
