Girl, 18, stuck in 540ft deep well for two days is rescued in India
A rescue team conducted a retrieval operation for an 18-year-old girl who fell into a 540ft (165m) deep borewell in India.
The victim was trapped in the narrow pipeline, which measured only one foot in diameter, for two days in Kachchh, Gujarat, on January 6.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Border Security Force (BSF), and local administration officials immediately responded to the tragic situation. After a 33-hour operation, they successfully removed the individual.
They used L- and J-shaped hooks, strategically placed in the borewell, to lift the girl out with pressure from below.
The victim was then taken to GK General Hospital in Bhuj but was later pronounced dead by doctors due to her injuries on January 7.
