This is the impressive moment friends used a clever candle hack to remove a cork that was accidentally pushed inside a wine bottle.

The group of youngsters were having a New Year's party when they were faced with the corkscrew fail that left their glasses dry.

They looked up methods online for removing damaged corks before settling on the idea of lighting small yellow candles and gently heating the glass. They then directed the flames onto the neck of the bottle.

Footage shows how they patiently waited for the cork to gradually loosen. After a minute of heating the bottle, the cork gradually emerged and eventually popped out on its own.

They can be heard cheering after seeing the cork removed at the home in Chonburi, Thailand, on January 2.

When air is heated beneath a cork, it expands, exerts pressure on the cork, and becomes less dense, making it lighter and causing it to rise.
