Tourists kicked off plane for vaping in front of shocked passengers
This is the moment rude tourists were kicked off a plane for vaping in front of shocked passengers in Thailand.
The rowdy holidaymakers appeared to ignore safety rules as they puffed on their vapes on Nok Air flight DD-532 flying from Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok on January 5.
Footage shows one of the male tourists sucking the electronic device as he played on his phone mid-flight. Another reportedly hid in the toilet onboard the Boeing 737 to vape.
But fellow passengers became annoyed when the cabin began filling with a sickly sweet stench and they alerted the hostesses, who bravely tackled them.
The obnoxious tourists were detained upon landing at the Phuket International Airport, where they were escorted off the aircraft by police.
Onlooker Neeranoot Meuankid, who was sitting behind the alleged rule breakers, said: ‘I noticed them because they had been noisy since we were at the gate. I saw they were vaping while we were in the boarding queue.
‘The three tourists were not listening during the safety demo. One of them did not even strap his seatbelt on when the plane took off.
'It is the year 2025, everybody knows that you cannot smoke on flights.'
Neeranoot said she fell asleep after the plane took off, but woke up from a cloying sweet odour around 30 minutes into the flight.
She continued: ‘I woke up and saw the man in the middle seat vaping. The smoke was barely noticeable the first time, but it eventually became more obvious.
'The sweet smell penetrated through my mask and I started to feel dizzy, so I recorded the video to report him to the cabin crew. I also saw the man's companion go to the toilet, where he stayed for a long time.'
Neeranot said she submitted the video to the flight attendants for evidence. The three tourists were interrogated by officers at the airport police station.
Cigarette smoking and vaping are banned on both domestic and international flights.
Vaping has also been banned in Thailand since 2014, despite the products being easily purchased in the country.
Scientists are yet to produce any conclusive studies into the long-term health effects of using vapes.
