UK: D-Day Veterans Share Stories with School Children Ahead of 80th Anniversary
Portsmouth, United Kingdom - June 03, 2024 On Monday, June 3, D-Day veterans gathered with local school children and personnel from the Royal Navy and Royal Marines at the D-Day Story Museum in Portsmouth, marking a special event ahead of the 80th anniversary commemorations. The event, organized by Portsmouth City Council and the Spirit of Normandy Trust, brought together personnel from 47 Commando and HMNB Portsmouth, who spoke with the veterans and students about life in the Navy 80 years ago. The gathering provided an opportunity for the younger generation to learn from the veterans’ firsthand experiences, then and now.
