Chipiona, Spain - December 24, 2024 On Christmas Eve, the Guardia Civil in Cádiz successfully rescued a dog that had fallen into the sea near Chipiona's port after fleeing its home, frightened by fireworks. Around 12:30 AM on December 24th, Cercei, a dog from a nearby house, bolted from its home, about five kilometers away, and ran toward the water. The Guardia Civil's Maritime Service agents were patrolling near the port when they noticed movement in the water beneath a boat. Using flashlights to enhance visibility, they spotted the dog struggling to stay afloat, attempting to climb onto a submerged support. The exhausted dog was pulled from the water, nearly unconscious from fatigue. After being safely brought aboard the vessel, the team allowed Cercei to rest and recover before transporting it to the shore. There, thanks to the Chipiona Local Police's help, Cercei was reunited with its owner through a microchip scan.
